David Charles, is a London based artist whose work incorporates digital painting, image manipulation, and traditional painting techniques.

Using a variety of printing and capture processes to continually translate the actions of painting between physical and virtual space, Charles’ work inhabits an in-between space.

The current body of work includes digitally printed fabrics stitched and glued to canvas. Paint is applied often directly from the tube, marking the immediacy and flow of real time while digitally developed forms elucidate patterns of copy and paste, cloning, filtering and the mawkishness of digital drawing, where software imitates the flow of paint.

David holds an MA in Fine Art from City and Guilds of London Art School and lives and works in south London.
